Many people have been inquiring about what we actually do here on a day to day basis. So, I thought I'd give you a glimpse into GnB.
Our general hours are 2-9. We have the flexibility to leave if we don't have class as long as we get our deskwork done (aka: diaries, essays, schedules, and minor planning). The curriculum is mostly planned (sort of like learning language in high school). There are roleplays, listening sections, and activities. Our main job is to perfect pronunciation and improve fluency. The school also has days with debates, speed quizzes, testing, etc... We really like the job. The classes are never more than twelve students and the staff is enjoyable to work with. The kids are generally extremely friendly and kind to teachers outside the class. In class, this sometimes changes ; ). Jake is a hit. He gets lots of "whoa...you are BiG!"
GnB even threw me a birthday party with a hot pink ice cream cake. The cake was actually all ice cream and had the following layers: rum raisin, pistachio, strawberry, and more. Everyone dug in simultaneously with chopstix and spoons. It was fun!
Here are some pics...
