Grading diaries and essays is a regular part of our job. It is often difficult to navigate the errors and it truly highlights some of the complexities of language; specifically the major structural differences of English and Korean. I often sit stumped trying to unscramble and make sense of the young ones efforts such as "succulent plant store is go to buy." But alas, these pesky notebooks bring us loads of daily laughs. A recent "winner" has prompted me to post a blog. It all started with a puppy named Dambi...
First I received a cute diary about a girl who loved her aunt's dog Dambi. And about 2 months later another Dambi entry appeared. "Do you remember Dambi? I hope so. This weekend took a hike with Dambi. I love Dambi. She is playful. But my father don't like Dambi cause Dambi has had make a shit on his car." I tried to teach her that poop was more appropriate. FYI: Very awkward body language was involved.
Jake's recent winner was a compare and contrast essay comparing adults and children. ...will finish shortly.
After all this awkward body language, I would hate to go up against you in charades.
